Anna
Maria Vegni was born in Rome, Italy, on July 24, 1982. She received the Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electromagnetics and Telecommunications from the Department of Applied Electronics, University of Roma TRE, Rome, Italy, in March 2010. The title of her Ph.D. thesis is "Multimedia Mobile Communications in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks" (available online Part 1 [pdf], and Part 2 [pdf]), supervisor: Prof. Alessandro Neri, co-advisor: Prof. Thomas D.C. Little.
She
received the 1st level Laurea Degree cum laude in Electronics
Engineering at University of Roma TRE, in July
2004. The title of the thesis is "Dynamic optimization
of a data transmission system for wideband connections".
In July 2006, she received the 2nd level Laurea Degree (Laurea
Magistralis) cum laude in Electronics Engineering,
Telecommunication field, at University of Roma TRE. The
title of the thesis is "Analysis of performances of optical
coherent PSK codes in OCDMA networks".
From May 2009 to October 2009, she was a visiting scholar in the Multimedia Communication Laboratory, at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Boston University, Boston, MA. Her research activity is focusing on vehicular networking supported by heterogeneous wireless networks. She is also involved in Visible Light Communications project, directed by Prof. Thomas D.C. Little. This project intends to address technical barriers due to mobility issues under the dual use paradigm of LED lighting.
Actually she is also involved in some projects with RadioLabs,
a non-profit Consortium promoting tight cooperation on applied research programs between universities and industries.
Her main research interests are mobility and interconnectivity in heterogeneous network environments, indoor and outdoor localization techniques, wireless and vehicular communications.
She has been Chair of the Session “TOF TDOA” at the IEEE International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN 2010), September 15–17, 2010, Zurich, Switzerland. She is a member of the IEEE Scientific Committee on International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (2010 - present).
She is a member of the IEEE Program Committee of the Workshop on Wireless Ad hoc and Sensor Networks (WWASN 2011 and WWASN 2012).
